    Episode 1: Steenwijk - Vestinggeest 2014

First aired: Tuesday, 12 August 2014 at 18.20 hours

Steenwijk with 18,600 inhabitants, is the largest town in the municipality Steenwijkerland and after Kampen the largest town in the North of Overijssel.

It was originally an old fortress. The moats and ramparts date from the time of the Eighty Years War, when Steenwijk was a strategic place in the battle between the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands and Spain. The name Steenwijk derives from the fact that there are many boulders sit in this area in the ground.

During one of the annual markets Podium.TV made recordings of this magnificent fortified town. From the tower to the water, walk through the streets of Steenwijk and discover this city in the head Overijssel!
