The Groningen builder Eppo Rynko Ottes (1941) built during his lifetime more than 70 organs for churches at home and abroad. The documentary explains not only secure the transfer of the organ at the church, but also the growing doubt in the (spiritual) life of the northern builder.

Craft and art runs like a thread through the lives of these northerner. We visit on the basis of Ottes different locations in the northern Netherlands, Germany and Spain in search of the (musical) and meaning (historical) functions of organs.

Already in his younger years, he was fascinated by organs, with 14 years, he went with his friend Bernhardt Edskes (now also an organ builder in Switzerland) on the bike and by train to visit Dutch, German and Scandinavian organs. From his 6th year he studied piano with Cor Batenburg and later organ with Wim van Beek, organist v / d Martini church in Groningen and later Finn Videro, Copenhagen.
