    Sick of how nice, a portrait of the artist Jan van der Zee (1898-1988)

    The Groningen artist Jan van der Zee was born in 1898 in Leeuwarden. In 1920 he settled in Groningen, where he trained as a painter at the Academy Minerva. In 1922 he joined the Groningen painters' circle De Ploeg. After the war, Van der Zee has developed into an important, compelling and original contemporary artist. In the film, says Jan van der Zee about his life and work. He continued to innovate ever during his life in his work. In 1986 devoted both the Frisian Museum and the Groninger Museum, a retrospective of his extensive oeuvre. He died in 1988.
