Episode 2: From Steenwijk to HoogeveenFirst aired: Friday, 11 September 2015 at 18.00 hours
Today we are going to make with Vogelvlucht, from the air the route from Steenwijk to Hoogeveen. The end of last week was Steenwijk today and we rise again and continue over the beautiful landscape of Drenthe.
The place Steenwijk with over 18,000 inhabitants, is the bustling capital of the municipality of Steenwijkerland. In Steenwijkerland are many places with a special name: Muggenbeet, Witte Paarden, Moespot, Leeuwte, Blauwe Hand, Ronduite, De Bult, Doosje.
Drenthe village Havelte is nicknamed "the Pearl of Drenthe”. The Clemens Church from the air is good to see, is a bit outside the village. In the year 1310, after the Christianization of the area started construction of the first chapel. South of Dwingeloo, lies the National Park Dwingelderveld. A large forest and heath area where a sheep is present. Here runs a bike and hiking trails through and one can enjoy the beautiful nature.
From the height we look at Hoogeveen, by its location, the city is a hub of regional facilities. Hoogeveen are known to pull the festive days in the summer, but also the flour mill 'The Swallow' of the Real Street.
