Episode 50: Rypke ZeilmakerFirst aired: Friday, 13 November 2015 at 18.32 hours
Environmentalist and journalist Rypke Zeilmaker considers himself to be a ‘boy with two feet in the Frisian clay’. He lives as a sort of monk with all kinds of animals in his self-built abbey in Heeg, away from the busy society. A softie? Absolutely not, as it turns out.
Zeilmaker is not worried by the climate problem and doesn’t wake up early every morning to make biological dynamical yoghurt. He believes environmental groups impose us with fears. He fights this idea by writing sharp articles about it.
Zeilmaker loves to hunt, fish, eat meat and enjoys the view of a falcon catching a hare. Nature is much stronger than many of us want to believe, and also far more flexible, that’s his vision. “We think, however, that we do everything concerning nature wrong. But there is so much more harmony than you might think..”
