Jeffry Wijnberg was born in America and settled in Groningen. At school he wasn't great, he wanted to go into music or tourism. Eventually it became psychology because he wasn't talented enough for the other things.
For almost forty years he's had a private practice for psychology with his wife: Wijnberg en Wijnberg, the first private practice in Northern Netherlands. Next to individual psychology his special attention goes out to speech technique, but he also visits businesses to talk about conflicts and absenteeism. Wijnberg is sober about humans and his psyche and writes: 'In the deepest of the soul there's nothing to see'.
He takes a lot of problems into consideration in his well read colum in De Telegraaf where life, from death to sex, from mental issues till needs are spoken about. Wijnberg features an optimism for life and reality that he shares with a large audience on the page Vrouw in the Telegraaf, but also with his patients. He wrote several books and is father to Rob Wijnberg, editor of the Correspondent.
