In the first episode Marica van der Meer leaves the Dutch flat countryside, for the hilly landscapes of Europe.

On April 1st 2014, Marica says goodbye to her friends and family in Workum, ready to start the adventure that will lead her to her friend in Adelaide, Australia. In Germany she follows the rivers and forests towards the South, while she travels through picturesque villages. When the mighty Danube is reached, Marica follows it through Austria and Hungary to Serbia, where she eventually says goodbye to the water. In Greece and Turkey her map appears to be the best tool to communicate with the locals. The further away from the Netherlands, the worse the roads become for cyclists. On busy and abandoned highways, over bare hills and through villages, Marica cycles to the next continent: Asia.
