Episode 2: Deserts and mountains in Asia

First aired: Thursday, 12 May 2016 at 17.32 hours

Marica van der Meer continues her cycling trip to her friend in Australia, through the tempestuous landscapes of Asia.

The first miles in Asia are very promising, Iran has proper roads and the environment is astonishing. The people are very friendly and stop Marica and Norbert to have a chat and to offer them tea and food. Even though Iran is a modern country, the cultural differences are obvious. Then Marica reaches the desert. High temperatures, dry air and a lot of wind cause setbacks and something every cyclist is scared of. However, with China in sight, Marica doesn't give up and heads for the Himalaya. Once between the mountains, it's time for a well deserved rest at the monks. In the monasteries, decorated in red and gold, Marica gets ready to get on the road again.
