Episode 35: Grand Theatre Groningen
Wednesday, 18 May 2016 at 17.32 hours
In this season's last regular episode Toneelmeesters visits the Grand Theatre in Groningen.
On the Grote Markt, between the pubs and shops, stands the Grand Theatre. From 1930 till 1977 it was one of Groningen's four big cinemas. After the building had been unoccupied for three years, squatters renovated it to an 'alternative culture palace'. Slowly it really became a 'theatre'. In 2012 Grand Theatre got into financial trouble, but even after going bankrupt, the theatre reopened again. Arno talks to artistic leader Mark Yeoman and gets a tour by financial director Niek vom Bruch. As always, Arno gets a theatre tip of the programmer, Judith Blankenberg.
