Program information

Proeftijd is a program where we look for local recipes and products from the North of the Netherlands in combination with special stories that involve food & lifestyle.

In the program Proeftijd, the focus lays on food and the origin of products from the region, but also about the stories behind a recipe from the region. A dish from grandma's kitchen or perhaps you invented a recipe yourself? During the program we look for tasty food from the region in combination with a special story.

In every episode a recipe from the northern region is the lead. We examine what products are processed in the dish and where they come from. Perhaps the program inspires you to prepare dishes from the north yourself!

In short, it is time to try and taste food and dishes from the North of the Netherlands.

In this epsiode of Proeftijd we´ll visit restaurant de Huiskamer in Ansen. Owner Pedro and his chef Stephan Bremer prepare deer for us. They also treat us with a dessert with local ingredients: egg nog with ice cream.

This week we are guests in the Living Room restaurant where tradition plays an important role. Owner Pedro explains why he works with many local dishes. Chef Stefan, let us see how the roe is taken out of his jacket and teaches us how to prepare a steak from the deer. For dessert we first take a look at the poultry farm in Ruinen Johan Laarman. This is where the eggs come from, which are incorporated into the typical Drenthe Lawyer. John shows us the view shed, which was specially built to show people how things work on a poultry farm. For a dessert of course hear ice. The ice that we're going to samples provided by an organic dairy farm in Fluitenberg. Is Barend Mul explains to us how the milk from his cows finally ice is made. Ultimately, it is then time for Probation! Leonie is curious how the traditional local dish will taste.
