Basketball - EC-qualification 2015: NETHERLANDS - IsraelFirst aired: Wednesday, 13 August 2014 at 19.15 hours
In August 2014, the Dutch Basketball will try to win a ticket for the European Championship in 2015.
In six games, the team of coach Toon van Helfteren will do everything to achieve the European Championships 2015. Games will be played against Bulgaria, Israel and Montenegro. The Netherlands will have to end first, or be one of the six best second places, to enforce qualification. The Netherlands competed in 1989 for the last time in a European Championship.
On Sunday, August 10 the Netherlands start with an away match against Bulgaria. Three days later, on Wednesday, August 13th, Netherlands plays its first home game. In Groningen Martini Plaza the Netherlands will play against Israel. The other two home games are played at the Leiden Vijf Meihal. Podium.TV will broadcast all home games from The Netherlands live.
On Wednesday, August 13th, the home game against Israel is scheduled. Israel took part in 2013 in the European Championship 2013 in Slovenia, but did not survive the preliminary round: it was last in the group with 6 points. Israel is a strong basketball country, but in 2011 the Netherlands won the last encounter between the two countries: 80-70. So there is hope for the Dutch team.
