    Franeker has evolved in the Middle Ages to the main settlement of northern Westergo . That area was an island , it was surrounded by the sea , the Middle Sea and the Marne rift.

    In this episode Roos is in the village Franeker.

    Franeker ( Frisian: Frjentsjer ) is the capital of the municipality of Franeker , in the province of Friesland. The city has about 13,000 inhabitants and is one of the eleven Frisian cities of the 'Elfstedentocht'. Franeker would be around 800 have emerged as a Carolingian castellum . The name was derived from " Froon - acker " or "land of the lord / king " ; the oldest street in the city is still called Froonacker .

    Part of Franeker is a conservation area , one of the protected urban and village in Friesland. Also, there are dozens of national monuments in the town .
