    A mockery, a mic and the energy of the moment. That's what Jan Jaap van der Wal is looking as a stand -up comedian. But that is what the audience wants and he plays to a sold out audiences every time. In his performances he mixes current social criticism, as a mild, pleasant humor, with events from his own life, his own childhood in Leeuwarden.

    Van der Wal is quite afraid of the big world and it is no wonder that hot performance Dystopia, the opposite of Utopia. Van der Wal: 'Why would you want to make everything less beautiful?"

    He has a distrust of people who decide on him and takes politicians not very seriously. Everything falters in society and also to the body of a young man like him. And yet there is a survival energy seeping from his performance that shows how nice things, recognizing the special chance of a person's life can have a value. Art can just suddenly get a lot of your life meaning, a world famous artist can just visit your home. Van der Wal is finally happy and that's good for everyone.

    Jan van Friesland has a long TV career and therefore extensive experience in the world of television. His career began for him in 1981 with Koos Postema. In the past 30 years he worked among others on programs such as Klasgenoten, Jongbloed en Joosten, Sonja, Achter het Nieuws, Buitenhof, Van Dis and NOS Journaal.
