Surhuizum (Frisian: Surhuzum; "at the southern houses") is a village in the municipality Achtkarspelen, the Provincial road 358 between the towns of Surhuisterveen and Buitenpost, in the province of Friesland. It is an agricultural region village, which is good to see at the sometimes stately farms that are on either side of the main street (Doarpstrjitte).
The Board of Local Importance does not agree with this, and would like that the street is named after Hendrik van der Veen, the HJ van der Veenstrjitte. Two years later, in 1970, Local Interest, however, agrees with the name Olivierstrjitte.
