    He was the man behind Joop van den Ende, he was his spokesperson. But Fred Boot walked around with a great idea; a musical about the story of the Soldier of Orange. Not as large commercial spectacle – that it would be such a huge success he could not dream - but to keep the 'war' negotiable.

    "That was the initial spark," says the enthusiastic producer and musical creator, who also has been conscript. For seven years he had to fight to get the project off the ground. When he had finally found the location of an airport as a backdrop, the project got wings. With Soldier of Orange, a performance which has reached a mullion audience, the soul of the Netherlands seems visible. Many come for the second time, take their children to experience the story together, to tell them the story and telling them the family secrets. As in the chorus: "If- we – do-nothing -? Who will? '
