Episode 28: Strontrace, Urban Chase and autism campusFirst aired: Friday, 16 October 2015 at 17.00 hours
Today in Puur Noord Laurens Sinaasappel talks about the Strontrace in Workum, Geesje Duursma about a new Autisme Campus and Peter Regoord about the Urban Chase in Groningen.
We have an overload of wind and water in the Netherlands, so why not use it for transport? Since 1974 each year in the fall break the elements are conquered in a week full of tests. Transport over water based on the force of the wind is restored for a bit. Who brings shit the fastest from Workum to Warmond and flower bolls back? Who brings passengers the fastest to the harbor in Amsterdam and back to Workum?
The campus is not a farm which can be used for permanent residence. But there is the option to live there temporarily to gain experience in a safe habitat which makes the step to living on your own a little bit easier. The campus offers place to people with autism. The goal is to make sure students can go back to a normal school. There are over 200.000 people with autism in the Netherlands. Autism is incurable and the people the campus is meant for are often underestimated and overestimated at the same time.
The Urban Chase
Urban Chase is a unique city adventure that puts your team, made out of 2 people, to work and makes you discover your limits. Both physically and mentally. The race is based on fun, adventure and discovering in a city. The next Urban Chase is in Groningen on October 18th.
