    In the Middle Ages, there were many monasteries in the current province of Groningen. What was the importance of this rich period in history for our region? And are there still traces of the monks and their work to be found?

    We investigate why there were just so many monasteries in the Groningen region. For an answer to this question, we travel to the mound of Helwerd, the place were a true miracle happened in the early Middle Ages. The quest then takes us to Aduard, once the epicentre of the spiritual life in the northern Netherlands.
