Friday, 26 February 2016 at 17.32 hours
In ‘Samen in Beeld’ (together in picture) program ‘Tiedverdrief’ (pastime) two dedicated hobbyists. One builds a miniature city on a few square meters of his attic, the other has a variety of collections. One is an absolute rarity.
Everyday mr. Dijkstra climbs the stairs to his attic to work on his model of the city of Groningen, The Netherlands. Well, almost everyday. Sometimes, to empty his head, he takes a break and rides his bike for a couple of hours.
Mr. Hofstede is a collector to the backbone. Starting as a youth with matchboxes, coins and cigarbands, he finally moved, for financial reasons, to beermats. With already tens of thousands of them carefully documented, additions still keep coming in.
