Toneelmeesters | Episode 27 | Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken

Episode 27: Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken

First aired: Wednesday, 23 March 2016 at 17.32 hours

In episode 24 we took a look at Stichting Alde Fryske Tsjerken. Today we visit their equivalent in Groningen: Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken.

Just like the Frysian foundation, the goal of SOGK is to restore historical churches and to stimulate public interest for these buildings. Right now, the foundation has been fulfilling this purpose for 47 years already. These churches too can be used as stages for various cultural events. For example, the Aa-Kerk in Groningen forms a concert hall during the important Eurosonic Noorderslag festival. Arno visits two of the foundation's churches: the church of Klein Wetsinge and the church of Termunten. As usual, Arno chats with the people who are involved in making the theatre and music programmes. In addition, we take a look at the rehearsal of a men's chorus in the church of Termunten.
